In-School Residencies - In Our Own Words

This program sends professional writers into selected urban schools to lead workshops for students who are at-risk, socially and academically.  The program helps students tap into their real experiences to use as the basis of their creative work, and teaches them that writing can be empowering.

The program coordinator is Judith Towse Roberts, MA English Education, MA Counseling and Guidance.

Major funding for In Our Own Words is provided by the Francis Family Foundation and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
