In addition to three regular reading series, we host other readings throughout the year by local, regional, and visiting writers of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.

Writing Workshops

We believe that creative writing can be taught--and learned. Led by professional writers, our writing workshops help you focus on craft in a friendly, supportive atmosphere.

Outreach

We believe that literature belongs to everyone, and send volunteers from our Outreach committee into the community to inspire and encourage others. Efforts include a monthly open mic at the Uptown Arts Bar and an annual retreat.

Youth Programs

We strive to empower young writers through workshops, readings, and collaborative community programming. Our youth programs include In Our Own Words, workshops held at seven inner-city schools, and Writers Blocks, a fee-based summer writing camp.
